Ranbir Kapoor’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has continued its remarkable run at the Indian box office. After collecting INR 13.30 Cr on the opening day, the ADHM pocketed INR 13.10 Cr. And despite Sunday being Diwali, still the movie garnered INR 9.20 Cr – a combined total of INR 35.60 Cr in three days.
With two days still to go in this long Diwali weekend, INR 50Cr mark in the first weekend does look a real possibility.
ADHM’s overseas collection on Day 1 has also been encouraging. Day 1 collection in USA and Canada is approximately 700,000 dollars. In the UK it has collected 200,000 pounds, overall a much better showing than Salman Khan’s Sultan.

But weeks before the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the makers went through a tough time, with the controversy of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan being part of the cast.
A political outfit from Maharashtra threatened to stall the release of the film for casting Fawad. In an unprecedented move, the Maharashtra government relented to the political party; asking the producers to pay INR 5 crores as a penalty to the army welfare fund.
Looking at the stake involved, filmmaker Karan Johar finally bowed down and posted a video to clarify his stand. Later lead actress Aishwarya Rai’s absence from the promotional events also made head turn.
