Actor-filmmaker Dhanush on Wednesday said his younger son Linga, who turned seven on Wednesday, is the light of his life and is responsible for all the happiness in his life.

“Happy, happy birthday my baby Linga. Light of my life. Miss being next to you my love. Thank you for all the happiness you bring into appa’s life,” Dhanush tweeted.

Married to superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya, Dhanush has two sons. Elder son is named Yatra.

On the career front, Dhanush awaits the release of Tamil film “VIP 2”, which will hit the screens on July 28, to coincide with his birthday.

The audio and trailer of “VIP 2”, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, will be unveiled on Sunday.

Author Anand Suspi says filmmaker R. Balki wanted to work on a project with megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya after reading the manuscript of his book “Half Pants, Full Pants”, but it didn’t materialise.

“Half Pants, Full Pants” is a collection of short stories, about a little boy growing up in sleepy Shimoga, Karnataka. His father is a station master, so there’s a huge railway theme throughout the book. The book has been published by Paper Boat, marking the drinks brand’s foray into publishing.

“Nearly five years ago, Balki was the first to read the entire manuscript. Something connected with him deeply and he is still the most ardent fan of these stories. He said that after ‘Malgudi Days’, he would love to see this on the small screen,” Suspi said in a statement.

He added: “In fact, he had a plan brewing in his head and took two copies of the manuscript from me. One was for Amitabh Bachchan. He wanted a second copy for Aishwarya Rai since he felt she would enjoy and connect with the tales given her South Indian roots.”

Suspi says Balki had an “interesting idea to promote this on the small screen and tried to put the whole project together”.

“It wasn’t that he would direct this. He graciously and voluntarily became the creative head of this project and decided to put the various pieces together for me. With time, certain things didn’t materialise and this didn’t take off,” he said.

Since the book has been published now, the author hopes that “there might be more people interested in adapting this to the small screen”.

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, along with singers like Adnan Sami, Sukhwinder Singh and Rekha Bhardwaj, will felicitate those who have made pioneering efforts in leading the change in cleanliness in the country, here on Sunday. It will be done at the second edition of the India Today Safaigiri Awards 2016
This is in continuation to the first edition that was launched in 2015, one year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominated Aroon Purie, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group, to be a Clean India advocate.

The event will be held as part of the second anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launch and the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
India Today Safaigiri Awards and Singathon will be a day-long event and will get musicians together to celebrate Safaigiri. As part of this, popular names from the Indian music industry will be at hand to spread the “Safai ki dhun”.

Those attending the day-long event include Mika Singh, Adnan Sami, Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher. Shalmali Kholgade, Shilpa Rao, Hans Raj Hans and Himesh Reshammiya will also be a part of the event.

Aishwarya, along with M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting, will be the keynote speakers at the awards. They will also be presenting the awards to the Clean India champions.

The winners are selected across categories through a process of online entries, field work, and selection by a jury of well-known names.
