Hindu right-wing groups led by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had given a call for banning Pakistani artistes working in Bollywood following a terrorist attack on an army camp in Uri sector of Jammu and Kahsmir in September.

Since the Karan Johar directorial features Fawad Khan, calls were made to ban “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” also. However, the movie was okayed for release by MNS after Karan Johar made an appeal to the people to not stall the release of the film and also agreed to donate Rs 5 crore to an army welfare fund.

The Shiv Sena workers held a demonstration outside a cineplex at Tatya Tope Nagar here. But their attempt to storm the theatre was foiled by police.

A Hindu group stopped the screening of the film in a multiplex for some time at Samdareeya Mall in Jabalpur.

Hindu groups held similar demonstrations in Gwalior also.

Fawad Khan breaks silence on India-Pakistan feud https://glint.tv/movies/fawad-khan-breaks-silence-on-india-pakistan-feud/ Sat, 08 Oct 2016 05:03:39 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=4094

Pakistani star Fawad Khan, condemned for being mum on the Uri terror attack which led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, on Friday said he is praying for “a more peaceful world”.

After the killing of 19 Indian soldiers, most of the popular Pakistani artistes had maintained silence on the matter. After a long wait, Fawad has broken his silence.

In a Facebook post, Fawad, who recently welcomed a daughter with wife Sadaf Khan, wrote: “I’ve been in Lahore since July as my wife and I had been expecting our second child. I’ve received numerous requests from the media and from well-wishers worldwide asking me for my thoughts on the sad incidents that took place in the past few weeks.

“As a father of two little children, I pray and wish like many others that together we can build and live in a more peaceful world. I believe we owe it to our children who will shape our tomorrow.”

Fawad added: “Please disregard any other words attributed to me during this time because I have not said them. I thank all my fans and fellow artists from Pakistan, India and people in general all over the world who have shown continued support for their belief in love and understanding to unite a divisive world.”

The actor is a heartthrob in Pakistan and found popularity in India after his Pakistani shows “Humsafar” and “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” were aired in the country. He found his footing in Bollywood after featuring in films like “Khoobsurat” and “Kapoor & Sons”.

His next is Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, which might face a roadblock in its release due to Fawad’s presence in it.

After the September 18 Uri attack, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had issued an ultimatum to Pakistani artistes to leave India and said they would not let their movies release in India.

The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association passed a resolution banning Pakistanis from working in films being made in India as they were upset that Pakistani artistes did not condemn the incident.

In retaliation, some Pakistani theatre chain owners banned the screening of Indian films.

Recently, popular Pakistani musicians like Shafqat Amanat Ali and Salman Ahmad had condemned the Uri attack and had hoped for normalcy to return in both the countries.

Is Ranbir Kapoor an alcoholic? Straight from the horse’s mouth https://glint.tv/movies/is-ranbir-kapoor-an-alcoholic-straight-from-the-horses-mouth/ Thu, 01 Sep 2016 12:09:26 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=3270

Heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor is not filming anything right now. He is waiting for Karan Johar-directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which is releasing on October 31. But, how Ranbir is spending his free time?

The Barfi actor in a candid interview with Vogue made a confession that will leave you amazed.
“I think I could have an alcohol problem,” Ranbir said. “It is a visual medium and I have to look after myself. I have seen it in my family; I have seen it go the wrong way.”

“So I’m aware I have a drinking problem. When I shoot, when I work, I don’t drink. But when I’m not shooting…” Ranbir trailed off. In the interview, Ranbir praised Fawad Khan for his role in Kapoor and Sons, and pointed out how the Pakistan actor has opened doors for a homosexual character in the movies.

Ranbir insisted that he is now receptive of playing a homosexual, but had it been before Fawad played it in Kapoor and Sons, he might have turned it down. “Sure, but now it’s already been done,” Ranbir said. “Now he’s (Khan has) opened the door, and it’s easy for us to walk through it. But earlier…I must honestly say I might have turned it down.”

Ranbir is currently preparing for Ayan Mukerji’s Dragon at his grandmother’s bungalow. He also has Jagga Jasoos, directed by Anurag Basu in the pipeline.
