Forbes magazine says the singer earned $105 million over a yearlong period stretching from June 2016 to June of this year.

Beyoncé’s earnings were boosted by her Formation world tour last year, which Forbes says grossed $250 million.

Runner-up Adele also enjoyed a successful year on the road. Her tour helped contribute to $69 million in earnings.

Taylor Swift, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez complete the top five highest female earners in the business.

Dolly Parton is a surprising sixth. Forbes says the 71-year-old brought in $37 million with the help of 63 shows during the yearlong period.

Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan says Hollywood has the potential to take over Bollywood if the industry people don’t work on skills like screenplay writing, marketing, and use of technology.

Shah Rukh also added that there is a “fear of Hollywood taking over Bollywood” in India.

“If we don’t hone up few areas especially script writing, screenplay, marketing, professionalism and technology, we will be taken over by Hollywood,” Shah Rukh said.

The Indian actor, who has been in the industry for over 25 years, added: “The language is becoming less and less of a barrier…There are more digital platforms and easy accessibility to content from all around the world. Hollywood has done, and we need to learn from them and adapt. There is big fear (of Hollywood taking over Bollywood).”

He talked about the dynamics of Bollywood as compared to Hollywood during a session with American actor Brad Pitt, who made a surprise visit to India to promote his Netflix film “War Machine” — a satirical comedy with Pitt essaying role of US General Glen McMahon, who is tough but over-confident with an only aim to lead his army towards victory in Afghanistan, and win the war. Pitt’s co-production will stream on the US-based on-demand streaming website from Friday.

Shah Rukh, who has won epithets like ‘King Khan’, ‘Baadshah’ and ‘King of Romance’ thanks to films like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, “Veer-Zaara” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”, also pointed out that success of international films in the domestic market indicates a shift in trend.

“There are films like ‘Spider Man’ and ‘Fast and the Furious’ which did as well as any other action Hindi films…Language is no longer a barrier as the films are getting dubbed too.

“Indian film industry has to change. We have a college to learn from..They (Hollywood) has done it all we just have to adapt.”

Hollywood has opened its doors to many Indian stars who are bagging noticeable roles in various projects. A case in point is Deepika Padukone. Priyanka Chopra, one of the most popular exports to Hollywood from India, says gone are the days when actors used to feel insecure with others’ success.

“That is such an age-old stereotype and definitely not in my DNA,” Priyanka told IANS when asked if actors today have become more open when it comes to appreciating the work of their colleagues, unlike the common perception that they have cat fights due to jealousy.

“I’m very secure in who I am and the work I do. These are my friends and colleagues, and I like to share in their achievements and happiness. Good work should be applauded. I believe that there is enough work out there for everyone. We don’t live in the dark ages any more,” she added.

Priyanka’s journey in showbiz started at the age of 17 when she was crowned Miss World. It was followed by her Bollywood debut in 2003 with “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy”.

She later bagged the role of FBI agent Alex Parrish in “Quantico” for which she won the People’s Choice Award — the first South Asian actress to do so. The “Quantico” fame also got her a role in “Baywatch”, a movie alongside Hollywood A-listers Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.

The year 2016 also saw her becoming the presenter at Oscar Awards and Emmy Awards, followed by an invitation to the annual White House Correspondents Dinner.

She was conferred India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri, and even featured in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of the world.

And this has seen her winning her second People’s Choice Awards… and she just can’t wait for more.

“Yes, 2017 has begun well. To win a second People’s Choice Award, this time as a Favourite Dramatic TV Actress, is an awesome feeling. Winning an award from the people, the audience, is a vindication that both ‘Quantico’ and my character connected globally.

“Also, when I see the amazingly talented women I was nominated with, it feels like I must be doing something right. As for the rest of the year, I’m looking forward to it.”

The second season of “Quantico” and the shoot are on in full swing.

“‘Baywatch’ releases on May 26 and we will be promoting the film across the globe. As a producer with my production house Purple Pebble Pictures, I have a lot of exciting projects lined up across genres and languages. Many announcements are on the anvil on that front,” said the actress in an email interview.

It’s not just films, she is busy with brand endorsements too. Priyanka was announced the newest global brand ambassador of hair care brand Pantene, for which she launched a new product that promises to make hair thicker and stronger in 14 days.

Priyanka says she prefers to be careful about choosing the brands she endorses.

“I have to believe in a brand to endorse it. I look at products that I endorse as a consumer… Is it something I would use, do I like what it offers? If my name and brand are being used to advertise a product, then it’s something I believe in,” she said.

With so many things happening in her life and with so much success, is there something that this global star wants to achieve now?

“I just want to be the best version of myself as an entertainer and as an individual. I want to try new things, explore all aspects of my creative self and basically have an adventure every day. I have always believed that it’s never about the destination… The journey matters more,” she said.

What makes Priyanka Chopra special in the West is the fact that she carries Indian culture and traditions with her, says the actress’ proud mother Madhu Chopra.

“I think Priyanka is carrying her India, her culture and traditions with her, which is what is making her so special over there (in the West). She has not become a foreigner,” Madhu told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

In that sense, she feels her daughter is representative of a modern Indian woman.

“The modern India is this — who have the values and talent, and who can pick on any industry in the world. If you see, everywhere Indians are doing so well… It’s just that Priyanka is more prominent, we know more about her. But everywhere we see Indians are doing remarkably beautiful,” she added.

Priyanka, who features in American TV show “Quantico” and has a role in upcoming Hollywood film, is often on the move due to her work commitments — dividing her time between India and the US.

Madhu, who also produces films under their home banner Purple Pebble Pictures, says she misses her daughter, and will be going to the US to visit her again in April.

Madhu says she is “hoping” and “praying” to produce a film, which stars Priyanka.

Talking about the mother-daughter bond, Madhu said: “I am quite a parent for her. I am more of mum. With her dad… They were friends. She takes care of me… There was a time when I was her mother, and now she’s my mother.”

With Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra slaying the international platform like a boss, comparison between the two is bound to happen. While Deepika made her Hollywood debut with Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Priyanka will be seen sharing screen space with ‘The Rock‘ Dwayne Johnson in her upcoming film Baywatch.

Both the actresses have been pitted against each other on many occasions, including The Ellen Show, Golden Globe Awards and their similar fashion tastes. Actress Sonam Kapoor is also going the ‘Hollywood way’ following her contemporaries DP and Peecee, as the ‘Neerja’ star has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA), one of America’s topmost talent agencies.

Popular American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will be grilling Indian actress Deepika Padukone about her personal life as well as her plans to take her career in Hollywood forward.

Deepika will appear on TV show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to promote her maiden Hollywood project “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”. According to a source, the show will be shot on January 16 or 17, and will air in India on January 19 on Romedy Now.

“Team Deepika and team Ellen have agreed to shoot one episode. Deepika’s episode has been listed for airing in the US on January 18, and in India on January 19,” said a source aware of the developments.

The source added: “There will be one more guest on the show that day – Matt LeBlanc.”

DeGeneres will be grilling Deepika on various fronts like “work, personal and social life and plans to work in US”.

Recently, DeGeneres had welcomed Indian actress Priyanka Chopra on the show with tequila.

Deepika is going all out to promote her first Hollywood project. She started off her year with promotions in Mexico, and then headed to London.

The movie, a new instalment in the “xXX” series after the 2002 film “xXx” and the 2005 entertainer “xXx: State of the Union”, is releasing in India on January 14, before anywhere else in the world. Directed by DJ Caruso, the film also stars Vin Diesel, Ruby Rose, Samuel L Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.

Deepika is visiting London for a two-day promotional schedule with Diesel. 

According to sources close to the actress, the team will be visiting India on January 12 and 13.

“They will be coming to promote the action film in Mumbai. They will be giving a miss to Delhi promotions,” added the source.

Hollywood star Vin Diesel will visit India later this month to promote the forthcoming film “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”. Indian actress Deepika Padukone, who features in a key role in the movie, confirmed his visit with a tweet in Hindi.

In the tweet, Deepika said: “Vin, India is waiting for you with bated breath. Will meet you soon on January 12 and January 13. Lots of love from us.”

The movie, a new instalment in the “xXX” series after the 2002 film “xXx” and the 2005 entertainer “xXx: State of the Union”, is releasing in India on January 4, before anywhere else in the world. The movie marks Deepika’s foray into Hollywood, and given that the trailer features a lot of her, the actress’ fans are looking forward to the movie even more.

Deepika is currently on a tour with the film’s team and her first stop was Mexico.

“Vin will be coming with Deepika to India, and a couple of other people associated with the movie might come too,” a source in the know of developments.”

Which cities in India will they visit?

“Vin’s itinerary is yet to be fixed, but he will make sure the movie is well-promoted for the Indian fans as it is releasing here first,” the source added.

The action movie is directed by DJ Caruso.

Earlier this year, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra chose a scarlet number for the red carpet of the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, and for the EMAs, Deepika picked a dress in hues of green.
