Although clothing and heels play a crucial role in adding a few inches to your height, jewellery is just as important. If chosen correctly, it can make a short woman look taller and slimmer while the wrong choices can make you look even more petite, say experts.

Create an illusion that you’re not the shortest girl in the room, even when you’re wearing flats by choosing the right jewellery.

Kapil Hetamsaria, CEO and Co-Founder, VelvetCase.Com, Shehzad Zaveri, Creative Director, Minawala, Rajesh Tulsiani, Director, Dwarkadas Chandumal Jewellers and Nishant Tulsiani, Director, Anaqa list down few jewellery tips and tricks for women with short height:

* Choose long and narrow danglers to create an illusion of an elongated neck. Long earrings will not only add those extra inches to your height but will also impart a generous dose of glamour to your looks.

* Always add those statement pieces that will impart a fairly ‘longer’ look to the entire ensemble. Just make sure you do not add a necklace, ring, earrings, and bangles all at once. If you are wearing a neck piece, go lighter on the ears and so on.

* Light-weight and delicate looking pair of earrings in varied geometric shapes like triangles, squares and rectangle can offer a noticeable style statement to short people wherever they go.

* Choosing a right ring is also very important for women with petite frame. Opt for rings with slender, narrow-width bands to lengthen the appearance of your fingers. The cut of the gemstone should also be kept in mind. Oval, pear and marquise cut stones give an impression of elongated fingers.

* Chokers are the hottest trend of the season but one should not go with the flow, rather one should make a wise purchase decision. Since chokers accentuate the strongest features, therefore girls with short height should avoid wearing heavy chokers and bib necklaces as they can compress their overall look. Instead they can opt for a multi-layered necklace or a sleek long chain with bold pendants that suits them the best.

* Bracelets or cuffs are one of the most versatile ornaments and can be worn with different outfits to become a signature piece for any occasion. Bold handcuffs can look disproportionate to your height; therefore girls with short height can adorn their wrist by opting for sleek and stylish tennis bracelets.

Choker necklaces, ear cuffs: Jewellery trends of 2017 https://glint.tv/lifestyle/choker-necklaces-ear-cuffs-jewellery-trends-of-2017/ Mon, 23 Jan 2017 10:13:05 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=7252

The year 2016 has left with some jewellery trends that will continue to dominate in 2017 and a few new ones that have already started showing signs in this year. From choker necklaces, ear cuffs to new shapes of diamonds like cushion cuts will steal the limelight.

Manju Kothari, creative director of Entice, says that jewellery plays a very important role in the final look that one wants to achieve so one needs to choose as per the trend.

Here are some of the trends that she has listed for 2017.

* Last year we saw the use of many new gemstones – like Paraiba Tourmaline, Tanzanites and some forgotten ones like Lapiz Lazuli and Turquoise. Overall the colour blue ruled in gemstones. With Pantones announcement of ‘Greenery’ as the colour of the year, we are expecting a lot of greens this year like Emeralds, Peridots and Green Tourmalines.

* This year we will see micro trends in the solitaire jewellery section where new shapes of diamonds like asscher, emerald, princess and cushion cuts will be explored for engagement rings, solitaire bangles and thin single line necklaces. Nowadays, diamond jewellery is an integral part of our everyday lives, as women love to wear solitaire ear studs & single line solitaire bangles on a daily basis.

* Choker necklaces are back in fashion from elaborate diamond studded for the weddings to simpler versions from the world of fashion jewellery. Thin strips almost choking the neck to grand ones that fall down with grace as if part of your dress, chokers are back and here to stay.

* Ear cuffs were in a nascent stage in 2016 and would make more appearances this year in all lengths, colours and sizes.

* In the year 2017 colours of gold, rose gold will continue to rule as it suits beautifully with the Indian skin colour. And as pink is often the favourite colour of many women; it works best for delicate daywear diamond jewellery.
