Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan might not be going through the best phase of his career, but sharing screen with him is still a dream for many. Starting from Deepika Padukone to Anushka Sharma, a launch with Shah Rukh is a proven formula to get established in the tinsel town. It is difficult to believe that an actress can refuse to work with the King of Bollywood. Here is a list of such actresses.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

The most recent name in this list is Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Reportedly, Samantha turned down the offer to work with Shah Rukh in his upcoming film directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee. Now Nayanthara has been roped in for the role. According to reports, Samantha had refused the offer as she was then planning to focus on setting up a family with Naga Chaitanya. Naga and Samantha are now divorced.

Sridevi

Shah Rukh Khan has been a big admirer of Sridevi. However, very few people know that Darr was initially offered to Sridevi, which she refused due to unclear reasons. Anyway, the project went to Juhi Chawla, and the rest is history.

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor was just as successful as her younger sister Kareena during her era. Interestingly, Karisma has refused not just once but twice, to work in movies starring Shah Rukh Khan. Initially, she was offered the role of ‘Tina’ in Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota hai. She also refused to work in Ashoka with Shah Rukh Khan.

Sonam Kapoor

Anil Kapoor had criticized Shah Rukh Khan for declining to work in the Oscar winning movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Anyway, his daughter Sonam has also refused to work with Shah Rukh Khan. Reportedly, she declined many offers claiming that the chemistry between the two may not work.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut’s disappointment with the Bollywood biggies is a secret to none. She has been an open critic of the Khans. According to her, working with the Khans has no longevity. She feels that working with the Khans can’t take her status to any higher level. Moreover, she feels that working with the Khans won’t add to her list of achievements in any way. So, that was a straightforward and candid reason cited by Kangana for not working with Shah Rukh Khan.

Hema Malini

Hema Malini, the dream girl of Bollywood has not worked with Shah Rukh Khan in even a single movie. What’s the reason? Well, it might be embarrassing for the fans of SRK. According to her, Shah Rukh does overacting.

Here’s everything you need to know about Bollywood’s “Sita” without “Ram” starring Kangana Ranaut https://glint.tv/movies/sita-without-ram-starring-kangana-ranaut/ Sun, 17 Oct 2021 16:28:07 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=10466

In India, Goddess Sita is considered the epitome of devotion, tolerance, and sacrifice. Almost 99 percent of average Indians know Sita only through shows like ‘Ramayana’ or tales related to the same. However, all these TV Shows show the same thing. No doubt there are many books penned by celebrated authors but most of these either portray the same stereotypical images or try to draw the out feminist perspective. That is about to change. For the first time ever audiences in India as well as across the globe will get to know an all-together different facet of this divine character.

How it is destined to be a Kangana movie:

Yes, you guessed it right. We are talking about the upcoming bollywood movie ‘Sita: The Incarnation’, which stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead. The makers have finally locked Kangana for the role after contacting almost all the ‘A’ list actresses. Alia Bhatt was the top favorite of the makers, as per the producer Prem Joshi. But according to reports, Alia interfered in the script and wanted to scrap the child part of the character, and emphasize the youth part. The makers couldn’t agree to her terms. SO shw out. Next on the list was Deepika Padukone, but the NCB summons and drug consumption allegations made, had the makers thinking twice. In fact, they received a lot of flak on social media just by announcing her name. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s name had also surfaced for the project, but the makers made it clear that Kareena was not approached for the ‘Sita’ project, but for another historic movie.

The Sita without Ram

Anyway, the project was destined to fall in Kangana’s kitty. Kangana is indeed one of the finest actresses that the Indian film industry has witnessed. The makers also seem quite happy about having her onboard and have enough confidence that Kangana will be able to pull off this INR 150 crore worth project. It is reported that the movie will not be about  her abduction, 14 years of isolated forest living or anything about her post-marriage aspects. Her (Sita’s) excellence in scriptures, her skill in horse riding, management, etc will be shown in the movie. Interestingly, the movie will start from her childhood and end at the ‘swayamvar’. Hope, Bollywood’s “Sita” almost without Lord Ram manages to deliver something new and inspiring.

Karan Johar apologises for ‘nepotism’ barb says, I regret it https://glint.tv/movies/karan-johar-apologises-for-nepotism-barb-says-i-regret-it/ Thu, 20 Jul 2017 06:17:20 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=9774

After actor Varun Dhawan, filmmaker Karan Johar on Wednesday apologised for his “nepotism rocks” act at the IIFA Awards in New Jersey that created a stir on social media last week.

Karan, the son of late filmmaker Yash Johar, along with actors Varun and Saif Ali Khan, took a jibe at actress Kangana Ranaut by bringing up the nepotism debate at the awards gala.

Later, they received flak on social media with Twitteraties calling their act “disappointing”.

While Varun apologised for the act on Twitter on Tuesday, Karan said that he also feels that it’s talent that rocks and not nepotism.

“Of course, I don’t believe that ‘nepotism rocks’. Of course, I believe that only talent rocks. If anything that rocks, it’s your talent, hard work and conviction. It’s the energy you bring to your job,” Karan said in an interview with NDTV news channel.

“What we said was meant to be a joke, which I think has been misplaced, misunderstood and I think it went wrong. I regret it,” he added.

Karan also said that it was entirely his idea.

“The idea of that joke was entirely mine, so I take onus of the idea of what we said. And I think we went a bit too far with the Kangana mention,” Karan said.

Karan and Saif, who were hosting the gala, revisited the much-talked about nepotism issue that started in Bollywood when Kangana branded Karan as a “flagbearer of nepotism” on his chat show “Koffee With Karan” earlier this year.

“No matter what I say or feel about my issues with what Kangana said on my talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’, I think I was raised to be a dignified, a chivalrous and a decent person. That’s the upbringing that I was given and I feel that I failed on those accounts,” Karan said.

“I felt that no matter what my thoughts or personal issues are on this, I should not have repeatedly brought that up. For that, I’m deeply regretful,” he added.

When Varun joined the two celebrities on stage at the Metlife Stadium to receive the Best Performance in a Comic Role for “Dishoom”, Saif joked that the actor had made it big in the industry because of his father.

“You are here because of your papa,” Saif quipped.

Varun said: “And you’re here because of your mummy (veteran actress Sharmila Tagore).”

Karan then promptly added: “I am here because of my papa (late filmmaker Yash Johar).”

They then said in unison: “Nepotism rocks.”

While addressing the charge of nepotism, Karan said: “I want to once and for all say and close this chapter after this and subsequently I will not speak about nepotism nor Kangana because it would be distasteful for her and it would be ungraceful at my end, which I’ve already been.

“Nepotism is easy access, nobody can deny that, but what you do with that access is what moulds you into a professional.”

Nepotism rocks: Karan Johar gets back at Kangana again https://glint.tv/movies/nepotism-rocks-karan-johar-gets-back-at-kangana-again/ Mon, 17 Jul 2017 06:25:07 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=9744

Filmmaker Karan Johar, along with actors Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan — all of whom belong to film families — didn’t shy away from raking up the nepotism debate once again at the IIFA Awards event in New York on Sunday night.

Karan and Saif, who were hosting the gala, revisited the much-talked about issue which started in Bollywood when “Queen” star Kangana Ranaut branded Karan as a “flagbearer of nepotism” on his chat show.

When Varun joined the two actors on the stage at the Metlife Stadium to receive the Best Performance in a Comic Role for “Dishoom”, Saif joked that the actor had made it big in the industry because of his father, director David Dhawan.

“You are here because of your pappa,” Saif quipped.

Varun said: “And you’re here because of your mummy (veteran actress Sharmila Tagore).”

Karan then promptly added: “I am here because of my pappa (late filmmaker Yash Johar).”

They then said in unison: “Nepotism rocks”.

Varun then didn’t leave a chance to take a potshot at Karan saying: “There was a song in your film… ‘Bole choodiyan, bole kangana.”

Karan, with his quick wit, then commented: “Kangana naa hi bole toh achha hai… Kangana bahut bolti hai. (It’s better Kangana doesn’t say anything, she talks a lot.”

At the IIFA Awards night, actors Taapsee Pannu and “The Black Prince” actor Satinder Sartaaj didn’t miss a chance to ask Karan if they could get a role in his films or feature on “Koffee With Karan” respectively.

“It is my dream to be on ‘Koffee With Karan”, sir. Ek baar zarur bulaana (Call me at least),” Sartaaj said.

Expecting ‘Rangoon’ to be film of the year: Kareena https://glint.tv/movies/expecting-rangoon-to-be-film-of-the-year-kareena/ Mon, 20 Feb 2017 08:18:34 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=7807

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is expecting “Rangoon”, which features her husband Saif Ali Khan, to become one of the best films of this year.

Kareena, who attended the screening of the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial here on Sunday, said: “I am expecting ‘Rangoon’ to be the film of the year because it is directed by one of my favourite directors, Vishal Bhardwaj. I have worked in ‘Omkara’ with him. I think people are also expecting a lot from this film.”

“I am also excited about Saif because he was so good as Langda Tyagi (in ‘Omkara’). It is one of his iconic roles. In ‘Rangoon’, his character is very striking. For the first time, he is playing a Parsi film producer.”

Kareena, 36, said she normally doesn’t like to attend a film’s screening.

“Saif was surprised to see that I am going to the trial. I had to come because it is an emotional film because of Saif, Vishal and Sajid (Nadiadwala) with whom I’ve worked previously,” she added.

The period drama also features Kareena’s former beau Shahid Kapoor and actress Kangana Ranaut. It is releasing on Friday.

Kareena said Bhardwaj’s films have the most arresting portrayals by negative characters.

“There are three stellar actors in this film. Kangana, Shahid and Saif — all are brilliant actors and there will be a competition in the film to give their best. I am expecting nothing less than the outstanding performances of the trio as currently, they are the best in the industry,” said the actress, who is loving motherhood.

Workwise, Kareena is looking forward to start the shooting for her next film “Veere Di Wedding”.

“We are going to start in May. Therefore, I am quite excited about it. The story is about four girls and there isn’t any male lead, which is very interesting,” she added.

Alongside Kareena, “Veere Di Wedding” features Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania.
