Grammy Award winning singer Justin Bieber will be in conversation with celebrated filmmaker Karan Johar on his show “Koffee With Karan”, says a source.

Bieber is set to visit India for the first time for his Jio Justin Bieber Purpose Tour. The show will take place on Wednesday.

If everything goes as planned, Karan, who has interviewed Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, will host Bieber on his show.

“Koffee with Karan” has completed five seasons. He will be celebrating season six by unveiling it with Bieber.
“This will be the first time an international celebrity of Bieber’s calibre will be featuring in an Indian chat show format,” said a source.

Karan has conducted interactive chat show dialogues with international celebrities like Richard Gere, Maria Sharapova, Hugh Jackman and Christian Louboutin apart from working closely with Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, George Clooney at world forum panels.

“He will definitely Ado full justice to this one-on-one exchange if Bieber actually does decide to reserve a time slot for it in his busy schedule,” said the source.

Apart from Mumbai, Bieber will also visit New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.

Shahid defends his arranged marriage with Mira Rajput https://glint.tv/movies/shahid-defends-his-arranged-marriage-with-mira-rajput/ Thu, 05 Jan 2017 10:36:35 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=6821

There was a time when people found out who they were spending the rest of their life with in the mandap. We’re sure there are parts of India where that still happens but that’s certainly not what happened with Shahid and Mira. Arranged marriages are not better than love marriages, but they’re not worse than love marriages either so we decided to stand up for this institution – the unnecessary dragging of Shahid Kapoor on Twitter for his comments about how and when he fell in love with Mira.

When Shahid and Mira were on Koffee with Karan recently, a lot of Karan Johar’s questions were about how they got married. When asked when he realized he was in love with Mira, Shahid said, “That happened after she got pregnant. We got very close.” Mira agreed, and said, “In an arranged marriage, it just brings you both close in a very special way.”

Talking about his pre-courtship period with Mira Rajput, Shahid Kapoor disclosed that Mira’s mother mistook the marriage proposal thinking that it was for Shahid’s younger brother.

“Mira’s mom thought it was for my younger brother since he is age-wise more in her bracket than me. I was apparently too old.”

Shahid also said, “I am a huge supporter of arranged marriage. I think the graph of arranged marriage is you come with no expectations. Then, if you hit it off, each day gets better. So the process of falling in love happens after you’re married. Which is unlike in a romantic relationship, where you always feel like the peak of love was in the beginning. Lot of times you’re looking back and thinking, when will those days come back.”

These are great points in isolation. No one should force women to get pregnant immediately after getting married, and no one should force women to pick marriage over ambition. Except… that’s not what happened with Mira. When Shahid announced his wedding 18 months ago to a then 21-year-old, lots of people raised eyebrows over their age difference. But on the show, the couple genuinely seemed happy and comfortable with each other.

In a country where the culture of dating is still fairly new, how is this an awful way of meeting people? Why are your friends allowed to set you up with someone, but not your parents?

Also, are love marriages in any way superior? That those couples don’t fight, have issues, or ever get divorced? Are you saying that two consenting adults who got married and had a baby while dealing with heightened scrutiny from lakhs of people can’t talk about how happy they are with each other without the internet telling them to shut up because their parents were the reason they met?

I’m taking SRK’s advice very seriously: Alia Bhatt https://glint.tv/movies/im-taking-srks-advice-very-seriously-alia-bhatt/ Wed, 16 Nov 2016 07:58:02 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=5649

Actress Alia Bhatt says she is taking her “Dear Zindagi” co-star Shah Rukh Khan’s advice — on being careful about being “too good too soon” — seriously.

On a recent appearance on “Koffee With Karan”, Shah Rukh praised Alia and described her as “one of the finest actors of the generation”.

He also said: “Alia is too good too soon. I don’t want her to get trapped in just doing great acting without experiencing everything in Indian cinema. If you become too good too soon, you may have inhibitions being bad at times. It is wonderful to be bad at the time.”

When asked if she feels any pressure of being praised by a superstar like SRK, the 23-year-old actress said here: “Pressure is there either way. I heard that compliment and we have spoken about it many times. I feel overwhelmed when he says something like that to me.”

Alia spoke to the media on the sidelines of the unveiling of the cover of Filmfare Glamour and Style magazine on Monday evening.

Talking about the Bollywood Badshah, she said: “He is Shah Rukh Khan, but he is also somebody whom I have loved and admired all my life as an actor, star, and celebrity or as a person. Yes, that compliment meant a lot to me. I also do agree with him that I need to be bad. I also don’t want to burn out.”

“I don’t want to be performance-oriented and want to have some fun. Therefore, I am taking his advice very seriously. I will follow up and be back.”

Just recently, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore said that she would want Alia to play her on screen if a biopic is made on her late husband, cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

Reacting to that, the “Udta Punjab” star said: “We met recently at a show and she said she liked ‘Kapoor & Sons’. When legends like Sharmila ma’am or Shah Rukh Khan say things like that about you, it feels very nice. This industry is like a family. So it’s like elders motivating us. I can only say thank you to them.”

“If I get that opportunity to portray Sharmila ma’am on screen, I will perform it well,” she said.

“Dear Zindagi” is directed by Gauri Shinde and releases on November 25.
