Late actor Om Puri’s last film – “Mr. Kabaadi”, a satirical comedy, will hit the screens next month.

Actor Annu Kapoor plays the title role in the film, written and directed by Om Puri’s first wife Seema Kapoor.

Seema said in a statement: “‘Mr. Kabaadi’ is a satirical comedy fare. I believe that comedy arises when thoughts and emotions that lay hidden in the subconscious are expressed consciously. In this film, we have shown that when a ‘kabaadiwala’ or a scrap dealer becomes rich, how he flaunts his wealth…to be like other millionaires how he changes his wardrobe, trying a different accent and expanding his business.”

“All the actors in the film are power performers. The film has shaped up quite well and it will be liked by the classes as well as the masses.”

The cast also includes Sarika, Vinay Pathak, Rajveer Singh, Kashish Vora and Brijendra Kala.

Om Puri, a Padma Shri awardee, died of a heart attack in January at his residence here. He was 66.

Actress Anushka Sharma’s upcoming paranormal thriller “Pari” will hit the screens worldwide on February 9, 2018, she revealed on Monday.

To be directed by debutant Prosit Roy, the film will be jointly produced by Anushka’s Clean Slate Films and KriArj Entertainment.

Sharing a new poster of the film, Anushka tweeted the release date on Monday.

On signing the film, Anushka had said in a statement: “‘Pari’ is a great script, and I have complete faith in the vision of the director as well as this collaboration with KriArj Entertainment.”

Last month, she released the first look poster of the film in which she looked totally unrecognisable.

This will be Anushka’s third project as a producer. “NH10” and “Phillauri” were her previous production ventures.

The film, which will also stars Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee, will be reportedly shot in Mumbai and Kolkata.

Anushka currently awaits the release of superstar Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Jab Harry Met Sejal”.

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan’s new film “Kaalakaandi” had been locked for release on September 8. He says the movie is fun, yet moving.

The film’s release date was announced by Cinestaan Film Company, read a statement.

Directed by debutant Akshat Verma, writer of the cult film “Delhi Belly”, the dark comedy is the story of six characters from different worlds — urban, ambitious Mumbai and its dark, neglected underbelly.

Saif said: “‘Kaalakaandi’ is a film I’m so happy to be a part of. It’s a cross section of Mumbai with underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers all mixed together in this karmic tale about love, crime and living a lifetime in one night.”

According to a source in the know of developments, the script was written specifically with Saif in mind. It took over two years before the script finally got to the actor.

“Akshat has written and directed this unique movie … and he is probably the only voice who tells it exactly like it actually is. Mumbai is a crazy, beautiful city and he has captured it perfectly in this very fun and very moving film.”

“Kaalakaandi”, produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Ashi Dua Sara of Flying Unicorn, also features Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raz, Kunal Roy Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur and Neil Bhoopalam.

After weeks of speculation, the reason for shifting Raees release date has been revealed by the man himself, Shah Rukh Khan. Earlier, the much-awaited movie was slated to hit the big screen on Eid 2016, along with Salman Khan’s Sultan, but later the dates were shifted to January 26, 2017.

The shift in dates left the fans disappointed, as they were hoping to see an ultimate box office showdown between King Khan and the Bhai of Bollywood.

Shah Rukh, in an interview, revealed that Raees would not be complete in time for an Eid release. The Baadshah of Bollywood added that his injury led to an 8-9 month delay in the completion of the project, so the dates had to be shifted.

“Then Sultan was ready for release along with Raees,” Shah Rukh revealed. “Two big films on the same day. So, we all decided that if you are completely ready, we can accommodate.”

Earlier, there were rumors circulating that SRK didn’t want to release his movie with Salman’s sports drama, because his last two films – Dilwale and Fan – failed to live up to expectations.

Raees, directed by Rahul Dholakia, is based on Gujarat’s illegal liquor sellers and a cop, who wants to bring them down. Along with SRK, the movie also features Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
