Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who is currently in Australia to take part in actor Hrithik Roshans music tour – A Night With Stars Reloaded, says she is missing her judging duties on the popular dance reality show “Nach Baliye 8”.

After Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Da-Bangg tour, Sonakshi will take part in Hrithik’s tour. Hence, she will not appear on the show this weekend. Actress Malaika Arora Khan is seen as a ‘Guest Judge’ on Sonakshi’s behalf on the Star Plus show.

“I really missed everyone. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it this week. My bad luck, I wasn’t there to watch them (the contestants) perform. But I am sure they must have given all spectacular performances. I’ll be back next week,” Sonakshi said in a statement.

Malaika, who filled in for Sonakshi on the show, had also served as a judge in the first two seasons.

She said: “Anything for dear Sonakshi and for ‘Nach Baliye’. It was homecoming for me and I was more than happy to relive old ‘Nach’ days. It’s a pleasure to watch the brilliant couples sizzle on stage.”

Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha says that by acting in “Noor” his daughter and actress Sonakshi Sinha has proved that she can do things that he never could.

Shatrughan doesn’t watch all the films of his daughter. But he did see her latest release “Noor” — and he can’t stop raving about her performance.

“I speak not as a father but as a co-artiste. And while I am supposedly a great actor, she has proved she can do things I never could. I can happily say Sonakshi Sinha has managed to make a very difficult part look easy. It’s not easy to play someone so sloppy and so full of herself,” said Shatrughan, confessing that he watched his daughter’s performance nervously.

Directed by Sunhil Sippy, “Noor” is based on Saba Imtiaz’s novel “Karachi, You’re Killing Me!”.

“As I watched her performance I thought she would slip up and stumble. But Sonakshi kept the character going on an even graph even when the character was making one mistake after another. I applaud Sonakshi’s performance because as an actor I know how difficult her role is,” said the proud father.

Does he see a growth in her performance?

“Oh yes! The kind of roles. To bring so much dignity into the role of such a clumsy character is not easy. I think this is Sonakshi’s best performance since ‘Lootera’. I had been bowled over by my daughter in ‘Lootera’. Again, I am impressed by what she has done in ‘Noor’.”

It was superstar Salman Khan who had predicted Sonakshi’s stardom.

“During ‘Dabangg’, Salman had said Sonakshi will be such a big star that every girl in the audience would want to be like her. Now in ‘Noor’, she plays such an aspirational character. She portrays the uncertainties of a young city girl trying to find her bearings with such sensitivity. Every working girl would identify with her.”

The proud father laments the fact that Sonakshi is not in Mumbai to enjoy her success.

“She is with Salman doing the world concerts. We are really proud of her.”

Last year, when Sonakshi was promoting “Akira” in Delhi, Badshah joined her for an impromptu gig.

Popular for his independent albums such as “Born Star” and “Terminator”, he has also rapped for films such as “Fugly”, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, “Shivaay” and “Ok Jaanu”.

His latest song is “Tamma tamma again” from Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt-starrer “Badrinath Ki Dulhania”.

Sonakshi Sinha will soon be seen playing the role of a journalist in “Noor”, and the actress says every girl and even boys will be able to relate to the character.

Sunhil Sippy is directing the movie, which is an adaptation of Saba Imtiaz’s novel “Karachi, I Love You”. The actress, daughter of actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, says the setting has been changed to Mumbai.

“The film is based on that book but we have changed it to Mumbai setting… I feel every girl in fact some boys will be able to relate to it in some way or the other. It is a likeable and relatable character.”

Sonakshi essays the role of a journalist in the film. The “Akira” actress says she got the hang of it as soon as it was narrated, and she didn’t have to prepare for it much.

She said: “Honestly, I didn’t have to prepare for the role because I feel it is me.”

The film also stars Actor Purab kohli, comedian Kanan Gill, and Singer Shibani Dandekar.

The film is releasing on April 21.

Force 2: Director: Abhinay Deo; Cast: John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Adil Husain, Narendra Jha 

“Force 2”, directed by Abhinay Deo,  is a sequel of the 2011 released “Force”, but unlike its prequel which was the remake of a South Indian film, this one is an original but staid, action-packed, bleak revenge story that is generic in nature.

Films have one sure way of involving us that never fails, they give us a character who has been wronged and then invite us to share his frustrations as they try to talk some sense into the blockheads. That character in “Force 2” is Rudra Pratap Singh alias Shiv Sharma, who is out to destroy the Indian intelligence agency RAW. Stopping him in his endeavour are ACP Yashwardhan aka Yash and an Intelligence Officer, Kanwaljeet Kaur aka KK.

The narrative begins with a few RAW agents getting eliminated in Shanghai but Anjan Das, the head of RAW, is not perturbed. It is when Mumbai Police Inspector Yashwardhan receives a coded message in form of a gift from his deceased friend, he realises that his friend was betrayed by someone from within the agency.

To avenge his friend’s death and to avoid other RAW agents from getting eliminated, Yash offers his services to RAW. Anjan Das reluctantly agrees to Yash being on the mission, but not before assigning an able and efficient KK, as the team leader.

The lead takes the duo to Bucharest, where majority of the action sequences take place.

John Abraham as Yashwardhan is all beefed-up. He shines sporadically with his muscle power and he offers his punches more convincingly than his dialogues.

Sonakshi Sinha is natural as the agile KK. With no deviation in her character, her on-screen chemistry with Yash, as his colleague is perfect and is probably the best part of the film. Together, they make a perfect buddy duo who bond over the investigation.

Tahir Raj Bashin is the surprise package, of the film. Understated, and ordinary in his approach, he propels the narrative convincingly, but unfortunately, since we Indians like our antagonist to be larger than life, he disappoints and this is not his fault.

Adil Husain as the politician, Narendra Jha as Anjan Das and Boman Irani as Rudra Pratap Singh’s father, in miniscule roles are effectively perfunctory.

Technically the film is mounted with excellent production values. The lone song snuggly fits into the narrative.

The chases and the action sequences are well-choreographed and they tend to be stretched at times. The climactic sequence with visuals captured by hand-held cameras and layered with loud background score gummed together in snappy edits, is an eye sore.

Overall, “Force 2” offers nothing that you have not seen before, yet entertains you. It is an ideal watch for John and Sonakshi fans.

Actors John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha on Thursday paid tribute to the armed forces and unsung heroes at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate.

The actors, who were here for a promotional event for their forthcoming actioner “Force 2”, placed a wreath near the Amar Jawan Jyoti and appealed that spies who lose their lives in safeguarding the country also get the recognition and status that martyrs get in India.

They attracted a huge crowd at India Gate and flaunted an important message via their T-shirts: “Respect the Indian forces.”

After the event, Sonakshi and John tweeted: “At Amar Jawan Jyoti paying respect to the true heroes of our nation, our armed forces! Jai Hind ‘Force2’.”

The film’s team is keen that the names of these unsung heroes should get recognised. They also plan to take this petition to the President.

John had previously said: “Even today, there are many unrecognised and forgotten martyrs from various intelligence agencies who need to gain recognition, if not celebrated.”

He said that the film’s story is inspired from true life events.

“It’s our humble request to the system to recognise those who have sacrificed their lives while serving the nation. It’s disheartening that these people put their lives at stake, without giving second thoughts to whether their efforts or sacrifice will ever be recognised.

“We understand that revealing names of people who are currently serving, may lead to political or security issues. However, it’s a meek request that the long pending cases of people get resolved, giving them their needed status and recognition in our society,” John added.

Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Abhinay Deo, the film is releasing on November 18.
