Popular actress Neelu Vaghela announced the title of upcoming second season of popular soap opera “Diya Aur Baati Hum” amid a lot of suspense and drama. The sequel of the TV show will be called “Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji”.

 
Starting from where “Diya Aur Baati Hum” ended, the new Star Plus entertainer will take a leap of 20 years and showcase the Rathi family with a few old and new faces.

The new title of the show, which ran for over five years between 2011 to 2016, has been taken from the original title track of “Diya Aur Baati Hum”.
 
“We are delighted to come back after seven months since ‘Diya Aur Baati’ went off air. The show became a household name and people were sending us letters and mails to return with a sequel,” Neelu, who will reprise her role of Santosh Rathi aka Bhabho, said at an event.

Dressed in a Rajasthani getup, Neelu made a special entry through a boat at the event.
 
“While people saw me donning chaniya choli in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, in its sequel they will see me more in saris and specs. But my avatar will remain the same,” Neelu said.
 
Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan, “Diya Aur Baati Hum”, which was aimed at breaking the stereotypical image of women in rural India, showcased the inspirational journey of Sandhya Rathi (played by Deepika Singh) who along with the help of her husband Sooraj Rathi (Anas Rashid) goes against all odds to become an IPS officer.
 
Though Deepika and Anas will not be a part of “Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji”, the new show will be centred around their children Ved and Kanak.
 
While sharing a little about what to expect from “Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji”, Neelu said:

“The sequel will have various twists. That’s why we have come here to shoot in Kerala. We have just started shooting for the show, so right now I can’t share much details. But the way we showcased women empowerment in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, the same we are going to show in its sequel.” 

Here’s some not so good news for the fans of Ekta Kaul aka Riya of Mere Angne Mein. The actress is all set to quit the show soon.

As per reports of an online portal, “Ekta has already put in her papers and she will wind up her shoot in the last week of February. Ekta has opted out of the project for personal reasons.”

Actress Ananya Khare aka Sarla from the show has also put down her papers and apparently her last day of the shoot will be next week.

Apparently, Riya aka Ekta will be shown killed while the time of conceiving her baby. Ekta confirmed this news to the same portal and said,  

“Yes, I am quitting the show owing to good personal reasons.”

She is best known for her role of Suhani in Bade Acche Lagte Hain on Sony TV but she rose to fame with her Zee TV show Rab Se Sona Ishq. She participated in dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6. The actress was seen missing in action on the show since quite some time. She was diagnosed with dengue last year and ever since then her appearances were a rare sight on her show. It was even said that the actress was planning to tie the knot owing to an Instagram post of hers. The actress later had stated that it was just a prank played by her and her onscreen sister-in-law Charu Asopa. Apparently, her on-screen chemistry with her reel husband Shivam aka Karam Rajpal is loved by many.

Going by her statement of leaving the show for personal good reasons, does it hint at her wedding to be on cards soon? Only time will tell.

Actress Drashti Dhami sprained her leg while shooting for TV show “Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil” here.

According to a source close to the actress, when Drashti tried to roll down and jump on ice she fell down and sprained her leg. The incident happened last week, and the shoot had to be delayed for five hours due to the injury.

“I witnessed my first snowfall in Austria. Most days, you will see me roll over ice, playing with it and throwing it around at the crew and Arjun Bijlani. Once I recover from my leg injury, we have a plan to go skiing,” Drashti said.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the show is reportedly inspired by the 1997 film “Pardes”.
