Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday kept his fans guessing on his entry into politics, saying if it is God’s will, he will step into the arena.

The actor, who met his fans after a gap of some eight years, also said if he enters politics, he will be truthful and will not entertain people who want to make money.

“God decides what we have to do in life. Right now, he wants me to be an actor and I’m fulfilling my responsibility. If God willing, I will enter politics tomorrow. If I enter, I will be very truthful and will not entertain people who are in this to make money. I won’t work with such people,” Rajinikanth told his fans, who had gathered at Raghavendra Mandapam.

One of his die-hard fans said: “If Rajinikanth sir becomes a politician, he will be the best.”

Another fan said: “Thalaiva should announce his own party and clean up Tamil Nadu. He is the only one who can save Tamil Nadu and take it forward again.”

The 66-year-old star described his brief stint in politics two decades ago as a “political accident”.

In 1996, during the Tamil Nadu assembly election campaign, Rajinikanth denounced J. Jayalalithaa and her politics. His strong remarks contributed to her defeat.

“I did a mistake by supporting a political alliance 21 years ago. It was a political accident. Since then, politicians have misused my name on several occasions. But I have to clarify, I’m not joining any party,” he added.

Nevertheless, his hint at a political role for himself was lapped up by Tamil Nadu BJP unit chief Tamilisai Soundararajan, who said the Bharatiya Janata Party would welcome any leader who is clean and wants to clean up politics and corruption in public life.

Back in 2014, as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi had called on Rajinikanth at his residence here. But the actor had termed it as a courtesy call and said no political significance should be attached to it.

Happy Kabali Day for Rajinikanth Fans https://glint.tv/movies/happy-kabali-day-for-rajinikanth-fans/ Fri, 22 Jul 2016 18:40:52 +0000 https://glint.tv/?p=2758

We just saw the Salman Khan starrer galloping past 500 crore mark. It is slated to cross Bollywood’s biggest grosser ever – PK, an Aamir Khan-starrer. But the fan frenzy one is witnessing for the latest Rajinikanth release beats them both hollow. The Rajini mania is way beyond all the three Khans put together.

Even before its release, Kabali has generated business of 200 crore. According to reports, Kabali released in 12,000-plus screens worldwide in 30 countries. Dubbed in five languages; it is the first time a Tamil film has also been released in Malay.

The revenge drama has witnessed endless pre-release publicity. For a change Rajini plays his age, a dapper gangster with salt and pepper hair and beard. Kabali attempts to recreate some history about Malaysian Tamils.

First Day First Night

The First Day First Show started in the wee hours of the morning; as the earliest show in Chennai started around (hold your breath) 4 o clock in the morning. Celebrations had begun on Thursday night itself. So Friday for the fans effectively started Thursday night as the celebrations began before midnight.

Huge crowds gathered around plazas and movie theatres and were seen having a gala time on the streets. The ticket counters were flooded and the fans were seen complaining about lack of tickets. Many offices in the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu declared Kabali Day a holiday.

Few Rajini fans from Japan also flew down to Chennai to watch the film; such fan fervor throughout the day marked Kabali’s release. Be it the fantabulous personality, the classy walking style or the quick-witted dialogue delivery, the Thalaiva rules.

The mixed review by the critics notwithstanding the movie has already been declared a super hit. But anyway, a Rajinikanth film is just a medium to have a look at Rajini’s evergreen aura onscreen. Whatever the plotline, Rajini stands invincible.

The fans are just crazy to hear and repeat his easy-going dialogues, imitate his posture of sitting and having a cigar. They wait, rather too anxiously for the thrill of seeing the bad guys being broken down to pieces while the hero stands erect over their lifeless bodies in the climax.
