After feuding in 2014 over his harsh comments on romantic films in bollywood, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Wednesday said it was amazing to share screen space with veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. 

“It was indeed a pleasure sharing the screen with Rishi Kapoor. What an amazing energy you possess even now,” Nawazuddin tweeted.

Rishi was himself cordial in his response, appreciating the working liaison and thanking Nawazuddin. “Did that bit for Nandita Das and “Manto” -title role played by you. We will have fun working together in the future,” he responded.

Nawazuddin is currently filming for Nandita Das’s “Manto”, in which he plays the controversial writer Saadat Hasan Manto.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Thursday courted trouble with feminists, activists and political parties roundly slamming him for his controversial International Women’s Day comments on actress Sunny Leone, a former adult entertainer. The filmmaker later apologised on Twitter to those who were “genuinely offended” by his comment.

“My apology is only to those who genuinely got offended and not to those who ranted for publicity and threatened to take law into their hands. Was just expressing my feelings but I apologise to all who were offended due to my unintended insensitive tweets in context of women’s day,” Varma tweeted in the evening.

Earlier, his tweet on Wednesday — “I wish all the women in the world give men as much happiness as Sunny Leone gives” — triggered a storm of protests on Twitter.

He was trolled widely.

As the row over the comment snowballed, RGV came up with more: “The negative noise towards my tweet on Sunny Leone arises from ultimate hypocrisy. She has more honesty and more self-respect than any women.”

Nationalist Congress Party’s senior leader Jitendra Awhad hit out at him: “RGV apologise or face the consequences. We don’t mind taking law in hand.”

Undeterred, RGV shot back nonchalantly: “Great @PawarSpeaks (NCP President Sharad Pawar) should kick you out for threatening to take law in hands in our sovereign democratic country. You are a disgrace to his ideals.”

Unfazed, Awhad warned that if RGV didn’t apologise, he would lodge a formal police complaint against the filmmaker.

Late on Wednesday, social activist Vishakha Mhabrey lodged a complaint with Mapusa police station in Goa, demanding RGV’s Twitter account be blocked.

She also demanded that an offence should be registered against RGV under the cyber laws and the Indian Penal Code for victimisation of women.

Not cowed down, RGV tweeted: “Filing counter against OverActivist with 212 followers which would be her family and friends, for disrespective 18 lakh followers of Sunny Leone.”

NCP spokesperson Vidya Chavan warned that if RGV failed to apologise, they would launch a ‘Joote Maro Andolan’ and beat him up with footwear.

The Film Studio Setting & Allied Mazdoor Union, with over 50,000 members, jumped into the controversy on Thursday by starting a boycott of RGV on his tweets.

On Thursday, Prateeksha Korgaonkar, state convenor of Ranaragini, the women’s wing of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti in Goa, too filed a complaint against RGV with the Goa State Women’s Commission.

“I am hale and hearty. I don’t know from where these baseless rumours are coming from. Initially I laughed, but from last 30 minutes my phone has been constantly ringing and everybody is asking the same question. It’s a bit irritating, I wonder why people spread such rumours’.”

We are glad that all these stars are hale and hearty! Farida Jalal will be soon seen in the role of a Kashmiri woman in television actor Imran Khan’s first film production, Sargoshiyan. The story is about unseen Kashmir and we are sure looking forward to seeing her in the film.

Actor Ranveer Singh, who will share screen space with actress Alia Bhatt in a new movie “Gully Boy”, has shared a funny video about the actress on social media.

Ranveer took to Twitter, where he shared the video and is seen talking about Alia’s films.

You will no longer miss the tweets from your best friend as Twitter is testing a new feature that highlights tweets from a select, single person it thinks you should not miss.

According to a report on TechCrunch on Friday, a single person’s tweets will get their own special spot on your timeline.

The feature is similar to Twitter’s ‘In Case You Missed It’ which rounds up the tweets from those accounts you more regularly engage with, or others that Twitter thinks you might like.

Like the ‘ICYMI’ feature, users can dismiss this new ‘BFF’ module when it appears, letting Twitter know that you want to see this feature less often.

“The account it chooses to show you is based on a number of signals — how often you engage with the account in question. Repeat engagement is also used to determine whether or not Twitter shows you the module at all,” the report noted, adding that the test was underway for select users on iOS, Android, and the web.

However, it was unclear how correctly Twitter has figured out whose tweets a users may want to see the most.

“…I don’t think I like anybody enough to justify this new feature you’re trying,” the report quoted a Twitter user joking.

Breaking News : Bollywood loses another gem as Veteran actor Om puri passes away at the age of 66 due to a massive heart attack at his residence. Om Puri’s friends and colleagues from Bollywood reached his Andheri residence to pay their last respects to the actor. Puri’s body was taken to Cooper hospital for postmortem, following which the funeral will take place.

The news came as a shock to film fratenity and fans.
