Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone on Thursday negated the reports that she was doing the official remake of Hollywood movie “Mr & Mrs Smith”.

“Well, let’s set the record straight because there have been a lot of rumours regarding a lot of films I am supposedly doing. I think usually there is a lot of dignity involved when an actor is approached for a film, whether it’s a narration or when an actor saying yes or no to a film,” she said at the launch of Gillette Venus Breeze.

“I had always maintained, when I am offered a film, I’ll talk about it, if not, I’ll never talk about it. All the speculation can go on. The only film I am doing now is “Padmavati”, it’s consuming all my life. When I have something else to talk about I will do that,” she added.

The “Bajirao Mastani” star said: “There is a certain decorum, conduct when you’re offered a film, whether you do it or don’t. I feel it’s not a very classy thing when an untrue information is given out regarding my work.”

After making the Hollywood debut with “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”, there were reports that Deepika may walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards.

However, when quizzed about her Oscar appearance, the actress, clearing the air, said: “That’s an interesting questionabut no, no.”

“Padmavati” is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also features Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has wished Deepika Padukone — who forayed into Bollywood with his film “Om Shanti Om” — all the best for her debut Hollywood project “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”, releasing in India on Friday.

Shah Rukh, who is also gearing up for the release of his much-awaited entertainer “Raees”, said he is quite excited about the Gujarati character he is portraying.

“I haven’t played a Gujarati character so intensely ever, so I am very excited.”

About the newly released “Garba track “Udi udi jaye” from the film, he said: “The song is very colourful and vibrant. It is a garba number. Director Rahul Dholakia is from Gujarat, so the atmosphere (of the film) is also like that.”

“Udi udi jaye” is a romantic number set to garba beats. Composed by Ram Sampath, it has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Bhoomi Trivedi and Karsan Sagathia. The song is picturised on Shah Rukh and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.

“Raees” is set to release on January 25.

Asked to respond to the buzz about his cameo in Salman Khan starrer “Tubelight”, Shah Rukh commented: “I’ve also heard the news. You should ask the producer of the film. I think he will be the right person to answer this.”

Hollywood action star Vin Diesel, who will be sharing the screen space with Deepika Padukone in “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”, on Thursday praised his actress and called her “an angel with a beautiful soul”.

Both the actors along with the director D.J. Caruso, hosted a press conference here to promote the upcoming action adventure, which releases in India prior to US.

“There is no one like Deepika. Though her origin is Indian, she is the queen of the whole world. I saw her in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and she was mindblowing,” said Vin, heaping praise on his co-star.

“Being in this city (Mumbai) is like a dream comes true. I wanted to work with Deepika from a long time. I met her years ago. She requested me she wants to do the premiere in her country. So the fact is that we are here to keep her promise,” he added.

“The love between two characters, me and Deepika in the film is the evidence of multi-culture global harmony we talk about,” said “The Fast and Furious” star.

The movie is the third instalment of the “xXX” series after the 2002 film “xXx” and the 2005 entertainer “xXx: State of the Union”. It also stars Ruby Rose, Samuel L Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.

Popular American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will be grilling Indian actress Deepika Padukone about her personal life as well as her plans to take her career in Hollywood forward.

Deepika will appear on TV show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to promote her maiden Hollywood project “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”. According to a source, the show will be shot on January 16 or 17, and will air in India on January 19 on Romedy Now.

“Team Deepika and team Ellen have agreed to shoot one episode. Deepika’s episode has been listed for airing in the US on January 18, and in India on January 19,” said a source aware of the developments.

The source added: “There will be one more guest on the show that day – Matt LeBlanc.”

DeGeneres will be grilling Deepika on various fronts like “work, personal and social life and plans to work in US”.

Recently, DeGeneres had welcomed Indian actress Priyanka Chopra on the show with tequila.

Deepika is going all out to promote her first Hollywood project. She started off her year with promotions in Mexico, and then headed to London.

The movie, a new instalment in the “xXX” series after the 2002 film “xXx” and the 2005 entertainer “xXx: State of the Union”, is releasing in India on January 14, before anywhere else in the world. Directed by DJ Caruso, the film also stars Vin Diesel, Ruby Rose, Samuel L Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.

Deepika is visiting London for a two-day promotional schedule with Diesel. 

According to sources close to the actress, the team will be visiting India on January 12 and 13.

“They will be coming to promote the action film in Mumbai. They will be giving a miss to Delhi promotions,” added the source.
